What is EXTRA?
EXTRA is a competitive play program for AYSO. EXTRA gives players a chance to play on a more competitive team and build their skills further than that of a regular AYSO team. EXTRA teams follow the AYSO core values and principals.
Who can play EXTRA?
EXTRA is open to all U10, U12, and U14 Boys and Girls who actively participate on a regular AYSO team during the current season.
Who will the EXTRA teams play against?
EXTRA teams will play games against other EXTRA teams. There may be some traveling.
How much EXTRA does EXTRA cost?
There is no additional cost at this time. However, players are required to be an active member of a regular AYSO team during the current season. Participants must also tryout at one of the EXTRA tryouts and be accepted.
Who will coach EXTRA teams?
EXTRA coaches are hand selected. They are some of the best coaches AYSO has to offer. EXTRA coaches must have intermediate certification or higher along with several years of experience playing and coaching soccer.
How much soccer does EXTRA play?
EXTRA teams will have one additional practice and one additional game each week. Days and times, as well as the amount of travel, will vary per team and division.
How are players selected for an EXTRA team?
EXTRA participants need to tryout at one of the regional tryouts held at the beginning of the EXTRA season. Participants technical and tactical skills, as well as their attitude, will be evaluated in game like scenarios and then scored accordingly. Qualifying participants will be placed on a roster and notified by the coach. The participant may be notified by mail also.
How do I sign up for EXTRA?
EXTRA tryout dates and times are listed on the morristownayso.com calendar. Just show up on the tryout date and be prepared to play!
